Toughened Safety Glass
Toughened glass is a form of Grade A safety that is up to five times stronger than standard glass, ensuring it can withstand significant impact without shattering. The reason why it is a form of Grade A safety glass is because in the event of breakage, toughened glass crumbles into small, blunt pieces, which significantly reduces the risk of injury.
Our toughened glass is available in various thickness and finishes, and can be customised to meet aesthetic and functional requirements of any project.
Standards & Considerations
· Toughened glass is manufactured in compliance with AS/NZS 2208 – Safety Glazing Materials in Buildings.
· Toughened glass may contain some levels of optical distortion due to the heating and cooling process within the toughening furnace. Thinner glass may increase levels of optical distortion.
· We strongly recommend ordering all toughened glass to be heat soaked to minimise the risks of spontaneous breakage associated with nickel sulphite.
